Nodrive 0.50.7

. Drawn icons, corrected contrast, clearer wording and open-source notices available inside the app.

Changes since 0.50.6. This release replaces operating-system emoji with drawn icons, fixes button contrast and rewrites several interface texts. It also brings the complete open-source licence notices into the application.

Existing data is unchanged: the drives you already have remain exactly as they were.

Section 01

🎨 Windows no longer draws the icons

Until 0.50.6 the interface used operating-system emoji. Their appearance and baseline changed between Windows versions, selected cards could not recolour their icons and labels such as Trash and History did not align consistently.

The interface now uses drawn icons with one visual stroke and state-aware colours. They appear in card actions, the ⋮ menu, account chip, badges, recycle bins and history.

Provider logos remain emoji on purpose (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, S3 and WebDAV): using the official brand files properly requires those assets.

👁️ Buttons are readable

Primary buttons previously used light text on blue with a contrast of 2.7:1; destructive buttons reached only 3.8:1 and secondary card text 4.2:1. The combinations have been corrected to meet the WCAG AA minimum: full blue and red are deeper and description text is lighter.

📜 Open-source licences are inside the app

About → Open-source licences now opens the full list — 493 components, 11 licences — with complete licence text and a name search. MIT, BSD and Apache-2.0 require the licence to accompany distribution, so the notices are now available inside the program and offline.

✏️ Text and terminology

  • This PC explains that encrypted data stays on the computer, an internal drive or a USB drive and works without internet.
  • Your storage replaces inconsistent uses of “support” or “cloud”.
  • Provider badges say strong where Object Lock is available and experimental elsewhere, with the technical explanation in the tooltip.
  • “Available on storage”, “Not reported by provider” and “Mounted on Z:” make capacity and mount status clearer.

🐞 Fixes

  • Changing language no longer changes the account chip back to “Connect Nodrive account” for users who are already connected.
  • The open-source licence window now opens in front of the About window instead of behind it.

💻 System requirements

  • 64-bit Windows 10 version 1709 or later, or Windows 11. Windows 7 and 8.1 are unsupported because the app uses WebView2.
  • Windows on ARM is unsupported.
  • WinFsp must be installed; it is the only step that requires administrator rights. Nodrive installs only for the current user.
  • Windows Server 2019/2022: not tested.
  • Two-step verification needs Windows Hello, a FIDO2 security key or a Bluetooth phone. A security key is not a USB memory stick and requires its own PIN.

⚠️ The installer is not yet signed. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning with “Unknown publisher”. Choose More info → Run anyway to continue. Code signing is planned.

📌 Known limits

  • Terms and Privacy open in the browser and are not yet available offline or tied to the exact accepted version.
  • The drive letter is selected when mounting, not during drive creation.
  • A copied recovery key remains in the Windows clipboard and possibly in clipboard history; prefer saving it as a file.
  • Provider authorisation can expire quickly while the provider apps remain in test mode.
  • With two-step verification enabled and only one Windows Hello passkey, a new computer cannot be accessed; register at least one portable security key.
  • The 0.50.1 limitations remain for provider moves and account/computer transfers.

Section 08

🧪 What is most useful to test

  1. Inspect cards, menus, recycle bins, history and the drive panel: there should be no system emoji except provider logos.
  2. Change language while signed in: the account email must remain visible and no icon should disappear.
  3. Open About → Open-source licences and search for dropbox.
  4. Compare the buttons in light and dark theme.
