Recovery key

Save it as a clearly explained file

The file contains the key and instructions for recognising and using it later. It is not encrypted: store it on a separate device or another safe place under your control, not in a cloud-synchronised folder.

Password manager: save the recovery key as a secure note, not as a password.

Password and unlock

Reveal what you type only while holding

• The eye icon reveals the password temporarily and hides it again as soon as it is released.
• Keyboard users can hold Space or Enter.
• “Sign in” becomes “Unlock Nodrive”.
• “Forgot your password? Use the recovery key” opens a dedicated path without diagnostic tools.
• The Light/Dark selector is available before unlocking.

Drive card

Three metrics with clear meanings

The card shows Used, Nodrive capacity and Available on storage together. The bar represents only Used/Capacity and number formatting follows the selected language.

• If the provider does not report free space, Nodrive says so.
• “BYO · Google Drive” becomes “Your cloud” + “Google Drive”.
• A closed drive uses the clearer “Mount and open” action.

Drive menu

Three stable destinations replace seven changing actions

The menu contains Drive settings, Drive management and Export. Unavailable actions remain visible and explain what is required.

• Settings: name, description, capacity, used space and storage footprint.
• Management: data location, reconnect, check, move, offline cache and Danger zone.
• The menu remains available while the drive is mounted.
• Deletion appears only in the Danger zone.

Window and cards

The interface adapts to shorter screens

• Header and search remain fixed while only the drive list scrolls.
• Spacing compresses automatically in a short window without hiding content.
• Drive cards are about one fifth lower.

New drive

Clearer choices before creation

• “Where do you want to keep the data?” with This computer, Nodrive Cloud and Your cloud.
• “Nodrive capacity” replaces “Size”.
• Offline availability becomes an explicit choice with an explanation.
• A summary appears before creation.
• For the user’s cloud, Nodrive explains encryption, that your Nodrive password is never sent to the server, and that the provider password is not received before opening the browser.

The version is visible and clickable

v0.50.4 BETA appears at the lower left and opens version, build, channel, update status, Beta terms and release news. “Copy version information” prepares the data for a support report.

Recycle bins

Two names explain the difference

• File recycle bin: files deleted from one drive, with no expiry.
• Drive recycle bin: deleted Nodrive drives, recoverable for 30 days.

Fixes

More reliable sizes, space warnings and validation

• 1 TB is no longer shown as 1,024.00 GB.
• Low-space warnings state available space and configured capacity.
• Deleting or restoring a drive no longer causes a flashing hourglass.
• Saving capacity on a mounted drive no longer reports an unrelated rename error.
• A capacity below current use is rejected before saving.
• Visible errors and labels follow the selected language.
• Edge’s own password reveal button no longer overlaps Nodrive’s control.

Requirements

Supported Windows systems

• 64-bit Windows 10 version 1709 or later, or Windows 11.
• Windows ARM is unsupported; Windows Server 2019/2022 is untested.
• WinFsp installed; it is the only step requiring administrator rights.
• For two-step verification: Windows Hello, a Bluetooth phone or a FIDO2 security key with a PIN.

Unsigned installer: Windows may show SmartScreen with “Unknown publisher”. Choose More info → Run anyway to continue.

Known limits

What remains to be completed

• A copied recovery key remains in the Windows clipboard and Win+V history; prefer saving it as a file.
• Local-only users send feedback from the unlock screen.
• Moving between providers requires the drive to be closed and three complete passes.
• Moving between the account and computer uses export and import.
• Provider authorisations may expire quickly while the provider apps remain in test mode.
