Section 02

🆕 With no drives, the empty screen becomes the first step

Previously a new user saw two empty section headings and “No drives. Create one above”, which explained where not to look and sent them back to the top bar.

The empty area now explains the model in one line and offers the three paths (This computer, your cloud, Nodrive Cloud) as selectable cards — the same cards used by drive creation rather than a duplicate that could drift. Back now returns to the actual previous screen.

💽 Drive panel: one tabbed doorway

There used to be two modals — Drive settings and Drive management — and users had to remember which one contained actions such as Move.

There is now one modal with tabs, matching the account panel:

General · Space · Offline (cloud drives only) · Support · Danger zone

• Space also shows how many files and folders the drive contains. Previously the count existed only on the drive card.
• Support no longer consists of three unexplained buttons. Every action has a title and an on-screen explanation instead of hiding the explanation in a mouse tooltip.
• The three metrics use aligned micro-cards, and Used includes the percentage: 36.2 GB · 36%.
• The window keeps the same size when switching tabs.

Section 04

🗑 Recycle bin: select several items together

Previously users could act on one item or empty everything, with no middle ground. Selection now works like the Windows recycle bin: click, Ctrl+click to add items, Shift+click for a range, and Ctrl+A for all. A selection bar offers Restore and Delete, and the flow also works from the keyboard with arrows and Space. Esc clears the selection first and closes only when pressed again.

If some items cannot be restored, the operation continues and reports the exact result, for example “7 of 10. Failed: report.pdf”. It never overwrites an existing item to make the totals match.

The opening explanation now says that deleted files remain recoverable without expiry until they are deleted permanently. The previous wording incorrectly said “until you empty the recycle bin”.

Section 05

🕘 History: points first, explanation second

Previously four dense blocks of text appeared before the first history row, followed by a parenthetical note about individual file versions and a Changes legend even when that column was empty.

The page now starts with a subtitle, the field for creating a point, and a compact details panel. The Changes explanation has moved into the column’s help text.

• Points sit on a timeline: a filled dot for points created by the user and an empty dot for points saved by the app, reinforced by Manual / Automatic badges.
• Rows now explain why some points have no delete action: points created during synchronisation or when closing a drive follow cloud-retention rules and cannot be removed manually.
• Discover file versions is now a command rather than an italic parenthesis. Individual file versions are available from File Explorer, and the interface now provides a clear path to them.

Section 06

🔑 Recovery key: the right explanation at the right time

The “Keep it offline or in a password manager” panel used to appear above the key, before there was anything to store, and it had already scrolled away by the confirmation step.

The text above the key now explains what it is: the way back in if the password is forgotten, shown only once and unrecoverable by Nodrive. The amber panel below the buttons explains how to store it.

✏️ Password fields keep their labels

Password and Confirm password previously existed only as placeholders, which disappear as soon as the first character is typed. They are now persistent labels above the fields.

ℹ️ About Nodrive

The window has been redesigned around the logo, version, build, channel, update status and product links, with Copy version information for support reports. It now closes with Esc too.

Section 09

🔒 Beta diagnostic logs no longer record file names

Verbose logging — the mode that records readable paths — used to depend on the build profile rather than the release channel. Because the beta is built with diagnostic tools, it also inherited verbose paths.

Verbose logging is now a channel property and defaults to off in the beta. The red “Verbose diagnostic log active” bar is therefore no longer shown.

Diagnostics remain useful: errors, timings and versions are still recorded, while paths are pseudonymised (file#a1b2c3d4) with a random per-session, non-reversible key.

🐞 Fixes

• The English recycle bin used Italian text. Three hard-coded strings overrode existing translations: the cleanup label, its tooltip and the “Recycle bin empty” status.
• The Space tab showed one value twice under two names. It now shows the total size of files instead.
• The explanation of used bytes versus file size now covers both directions: compression and block deduplication can reduce storage, while metadata and history can increase it.
• Clear cache now explains that it removes temporary copies of files merely opened, not the copies explicitly marked Available offline.
• Some screens displayed 1 TB as 1,024.00 GB; they now use the correct TB unit.
• Capacity number and unit are aligned.
• Description character count now sits on the label row rather than below the field.
• Password eye icons are vertically centred.
• Deleting a drive from the drive recycle bin no longer causes a flashing hourglass.

Section 11

💻 System requirements

• 64-bit Windows 10 version 1709 or later, or Windows 11. Windows 7 and 8.1 are unsupported because the app uses Microsoft Edge WebView2.
• Windows on ARM is unsupported; Windows Server 2019/2022 is untested.
• WinFsp must be installed. It is the only step requiring administrator rights; Nodrive itself installs only for the current user.
• Optional two-step verification requires Windows Hello, a FIDO2 security key, or a Bluetooth phone. A security key is not a normal USB memory stick and must have its own PIN configured.

⚠️ The installer is not yet signed. Windows may show SmartScreen with “Unknown publisher”. Choose More info → Run anyway. Code signing is planned.

Section 12

📌 Known limits

• What’s new in this version points to nodrive.cloud/note/0.50.5; if that page is not yet published, the browser shows an error. These release notes remain the authoritative source.
• Terms and Privacy are not yet reachable from the app in this release; the beta conditions shown in About and in the account panel’s Privacy tab remain applicable.
• A copied recovery key stays in the Windows clipboard and Win+V history. Prefer Save as file… or overwrite the clipboard immediately afterwards.
• The 0.50.1 limitations remain for moving between providers and transferring between accounts and PCs.
• Provider authorisations can expire quickly while Nodrive’s provider apps remain in test mode.
